‘Stay with me' ‘ he whispered.

Zamfron paced back and forth along the beach shore. It was the first time he had stepped foot on the beach, since he was nine.

Whenever he was asked to go on a beach outing , he made up excuses without trying to raise any suspicion , but today was different. Today he decided it was time to come to the same beach with the same woman that left him alone on that beach years ago.

Her lips trembled as her eyes darted back and forth following her son’s every move. Nothing would be enough to calm him down and make him understand why she has to go. She called him here today, eleven years after that fateful day, to tell him the truth about them.

He ran towards the water , his mum following closely behind him.

Now what ? ‘ he yelled . Is this the part where you tell me you’re sorry for all those years , MUM!

His knees gave in as he fell into the wet sand, his body shaking vehemently as the roars of the waves drowned out his sobs.

She backed him and sobbed, her hands shaky and sweaty. How was she going to tell him the truth? How was she going to reveal who exactly she was ? How was she going to live with herself after this? Was he going to believe her ?

Errm … You …

You’re not ….

He stood up and walked towards her, his arms wide open. He took her into his embrace and told her it was okay.

You’re not my son' she blurted out.

Huuhh ?

I said , you’re not my son ,’ her eyes welled up with fresh tears .

But… But … , You’ve all I have ever known’, he replied as he tighten his embrace.

Yes , I know, but you’re not exactly my son ,’ her voice cracked .

It’s just… just…

Just what ? ‘ he yelled .

Tell me damnit . Tell me the whole truth.

You don’t want to know ‘,she yelled, as she pulled at her long dark curls.

Oh I bet you I’m ready ‘, he replied, as he left her embrace.

I need you to understand that I.. tried to do it the easy way, but they won’t let me.

They just wouldn’t bulge, so I had to do what I did.

Woman, what are you on about ? ‘ he yelled , slowing backing away from her , his hands in the air .

I killed them okay? ,’ she whispered loudly.

Killed who?’, he screamed.

Who did you kill?

Your mum and dad , I’m so sorry.

I just couldn’t leave you alone. After I carried you in my womb for nine months, and breast fed you for six . I couldn’t let them take you away, so I did what I had to do.

Stay away from me ‘, he yelled, pointing at her.

I can’t even look at you.

You’re a beast, a wicked wicked woman.

I love you ,always have , always will ,’ she responded .

Is that why you left me on the beach, eleven years ago huh?

The cops were on your tail ? ‘, he screamed .

Someone from the crowd that surrounded them had called the cops and they had arrived. As they put her in handcuffs, she mouthed ‘ I love you' to him.

He ran to her and hugged her tight, and then ran towards the ocean and dived into the water.
